What the 5ATM upgrade actually changes

3ATM covers rain, splashes and hand-washing. 5ATM adds sweat and brief accidental immersion — dropping the watch in a sink, getting caught in heavy rain, wearing it through a hard training session. Neither rating covers swimming, hot showers or steam, because heat and pressure cycling stress gaskets far more than water alone does. The practical difference is margin: with a 5ATM magnetic watch you stop having to think about it during ordinary daily accidents.

The polished mirror dial

The Mirror Series dial is polished rather than printed or brushed, so it reflects its surroundings and changes completely with the angle of light. It is the most visually active finish in the range. The trade-off is honest: a polished surface shows dust on the crystal above it more readily than a matt one, and a microfibre cloth becomes a useful thing to keep nearby.

Silicone or steel mesh

Silicone is the natural pairing with a 5ATM rating — it dries instantly, rinses under a tap, and does not hold sweat, so it takes full advantage of the higher water resistance. Steel mesh is the dressier option and slides to any length without tools. Both are 20 mm and interchangeable, so one watch covers training and office wear.

The magnetic ball display

Two magnetic balls travel the dial track in place of hands — one marking the hour, one the minutes. On a mirror dial this is more than styling: hands sweeping across a polished surface would break the reflection into segments, whereas two small spheres leave it whole. Reading it takes a day or two before it becomes automatic.

Case size, fit and care

The 40 mm case with a 20 mm band suits wrist sizes from roughly 15 cm to 20 cm. Clean the crystal with a microfibre cloth rather than paper tissue, which can leave fine scratches on a polished finish. Rinse silicone after heavy sweat; clean steel mesh occasionally with a soft brush and plain water and dry it fully. Keep alcohol-based cleaners off the case.
